Haha! something useful is slowly coming out of my latest obsession, check back for more!
Things What I made and Did
I have a craft blog, this is where I procrastinate, although all work is good work? maybe one day I’ll make things out of socks to fuel my rock star lifestyle. Anyway, although it’s still in an embryonic phase take a look here:
This is my most recent creation, I feel slightly ashamed about his lack of arms… but I do like his little belly button, although he will never be able to scratch it.
Cockatiel
I’m rather pleased with this little chap. I’ve been trying to master clipping masks and layers today in photoshop, I want to be able to put my silhouettes and shapes into photoshop and illustrator in order to manipulate them, but then I don’t want it to look like I’ve used a computer, can’t win really!
Decade Drawn Out
My friend Alistair recently drew my attention to a competition being held by Dazed and Confused Magazine entitled ‘Decade drawn out’. The brief was simply to illustrate one of a selection of magazine covers taken from the last ten years and put your illustrative mark on it. This is my entry:
The prize is the chance to be commissioned by Dazed for a future edititorial project, Fingers crossed! the image can be viewed on their website, here
Wrapping Paper
I recently received an e-mail from Frinton Press asking whether I would be interested in designing a repeating pattern which would be tiled to create a wrapping paper design which would be sold along with others at various Christmas fairs around London. The competition would be unpaid but it sounded like fun and also a useful bit of self promotion so I decided to have a go. I’m currently doing an ongoing project based on Birds of paradise so I thought this would be a nice opportunity to try out some ideas. Unfortunately my wrapping paper hasn’t made it into the final booklet, but I rather like the design which I came up with and I think it’s given me some ideas for future work.
Sketchings
Some recent work from my sketchbook in preparation for a self initiated project on Birds of Paradise and rainforest habitats.
Creative Review
The other day I decided I really need to get in gear and promote my website and work ready for the Brighton show in London. With this in mind I sent some work to Creative Review in the hope that it would be put onto their feed of work, and it has! http://www.creativereview.co.uk/feed/june-2009/09/spiritualism
I’ve also noticed the work of my friend Yuko up too, check out her personal website! the amount of detail she puts into her work will boggle your mind
