which suggests that someone else might be taking over the production of polaroid films in the near future, which makes me considerably happier, but for the moment I still have my eye on a pack of black and white 600 film from e-bay, hands off!

Inspired by Channel 4’s Indian Winter I thought I’d post some of the Indian postcards I have in my possession. The green hand on the end is actually a henna stencil, I would use it but I think it’s too nice just as something to look at, although I would love to have my hands properly painted in henna.

I recently received an e-mail from Frinton Press asking whether I would be interested in designing a repeating pattern which would be tiled to create a wrapping paper design which would be sold along with others at various Christmas fairs around London. The competition would be unpaid but it sounded like fun and also a useful bit of self promotion so I decided to have a go. I’m currently doing an ongoing project based on Birds of paradise so I thought this would be a nice opportunity to try out some ideas. Unfortunately my wrapping paper hasn’t made it into the final booklet, but I rather like the design which I came up with and I think it’s given me some ideas for future work.

I’m a giant fan of giant flea markets (Giants fleas are obviously better value for money than little fleas…) and I love the variety of things you can find in among the stalls. Recently I picked up a ‘Tala’ Icing pen at one stall then towards the end of the day the accompanying guide explaining ‘How to Decorate a Cake’ (all for the bargain price of £4 thanks to some haggling) just looking at the amount of icing on some of these creations makes my teeth hurt, but I’m planning to dust the icing pen down and have a go myself in time for Christmas. Particularly appealing are the ‘Cocktail Eggs’ with piped gelatine and mayonnaise in the centers…… does that call for a retro cocktail party??

It’s lovely to see everything come together after a few initial sketches in a coffee shop meeting, I’m looking forwards to updating and working with this site over the next few years.

I’ve really enjoyed Season one of True Blood so far (Currently being shown on Channel 4 in the Uk) I particularly like some of the techniques and images they’ve used in the opening credits. I’m sure I’ve read an article about the making of the credits somewhere recently, could possibly be in Creative Review, I shall dig it up later and post some sort of reference/link.
